The situation regarding the Covid 19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has become very serious to the health, safety and well-being of everyone. Here at Doncaster Deaf Trust we are trying to provide support to designated ‘key workers’ including those in the NHS whom will be at the forefront of the emergency response to the health care needs of those who contract the virus. We are also mindful that we need to provide support to those children and young people whom are vulnerable or have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
We need to ensure that we are not putting anyone at risk who has an existing health condition or lives with someone whom has a health condition. The list of health conditions is on our daily updates on the website. We have completed risk assessments on those children and young people with a health condition and the staff from our services will have been in contact with you regarding next steps.
Implementing the social distancing measures within nursery, school, the children’s home and college is a challenge. Our staff in all of the services are worried and are at risk of contracting the virus and could potentially be spreading it. We are trying to maintain social distancing whilst continuing to provide the service needed. We are trying to ensure that we have safe and acceptable levels of staffing in place so that we can provide a service to ‘key workers’.
If you are a designated ‘key worker’ as defined by the government then we will continue to provide a service for your child or young person. We will endeavour to maintain the service throughout the forthcoming period within our current staffing resources. As the increase in the infection approaches we will inevitably be under pressure with our staffing resource and will prioritise safe staffing levels where possible. If we can’t maintain safe staffing levels then we will let you know.
The staff teams in all of our services have prepared and provided work so that pupils and students can continue to learn at home. Please support them to complete the work and if you need any help or advice then please contact the staff.
If you do not have a contact telephone number for the service your child is in then please call 01302 386700.
