The National Lottery has funded Doncaster Deaf Trust under their 'Building Connections' fund and the project consists of three parts:

1 - A Deaf Social Club: aimed at 18-30 year olds, members of the deaf community will have access to all the facilities on campus and will be able to choose what they do each week. The trust has wonderful facilities; outdoor sports courts where they can play Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball or Futsal/Football; an indoor sports hall for Badminton, Boccia and other games; cycles to use around campus, TV/Video for film nights, pool, darts, indoor bowls and much more. Members tell staff what they'd like and we'll try to make it available. The club currently takes place on Friday evenings between 6.00 and 9.00. If members decide they want it on a different day, or for longer, then we can do that too. This 'connects' deaf people with other deaf people, locally. Any deaf person is welcome.

2 - A Social media 'Chat Room' will be introduced into the club so that deaf people in the club can chat to deaf people anywhere in the UK, connecting local deaf people with other deaf people.

3 - In June/July, we will put a British Sign Language (level one) course on-line and it will be FREE so that hearing people can start to learn BSL and so 'connect' with deaf people.
