I've been running for just one year and thoroughly enjoy it. This year I set myself the challenge of completing the Great North Run, and so I thought; why not let others benefit as well? the Great North Run experience, was, well, an experience!

After a stressful drive to Durham on the Friday, a trial “run” of the start and finish lines and an experience of the Metro on the Saturday, the big day arrived.

At the start, along with 57,000 runners the atmosphere and adrenaline kicked in.

The gun went off and the pace was good, for the first six miles. I was hoping for a sub – two hour time. But at 10 miles the energy levels dropped. It was a tough last three miles. But I didn’t stop and just missed my two hour target. Finishing in the top 25% of runners isn’t too bad though. I'm proud of my achievement after only a year of running but I'm especially proud to say that I've raised over £1,270 (so far!) for the Trust's New care Home Appeal.

I'm doing another half-marathon at the end of October, at Clumber Park, so please do sponsor me, and help me, to help the Trust to achieve their aim. Thank you.
