The Deaf Trust employs a full-time Audiologist with access to the latest digital hearing aid technology and equipment. This enables pupils and students to have their audiological needs attended to onsite causing minimum disruption the individual’s educational plan. The department carries out annual assessment for all pupils and students as well as ongoing assessment throughout the year on an as and when required basis. Close contact is maintained with the individual’s parents / guardians, local authorities, local audiology departments and cochlear implant centres.
The department also aims to ensure that the individuals have a good sound knowledge and understanding about deafness, their own in particular. We also aim for our individuals to have good sound technical knowledge, understanding the benefits to using hearing aids and or cochlear implants.
