We are thrilled to announce our Enterprise Café has been awarded a five-star rating after a surprise visit from Doncaster Council's Environmental Health team.
This rating comes after an environmental health inspector made an unannounced visit to assess the safety of the food we prepare.
As part of their inspection, they assess the handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities and how food safety is managed.
We were awarded a five on the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, the highest score possible, which means hygiene standards are "very good" and fully comply with the law.
Stacey Betts, assistant principal at Communication Specialist College Doncaster, said: "Tracey J had just called in at the café for a morning coffee and Karl was busy teaching in the Eastfields kitchen. Tracey was greeted by an inspector and never got her coffee!
"In true College spirit, staff rallied round and supported each other. Tracey ended up in a two-hour environmental health meeting, explaining the curriculum. Karl also calmly shared his expertise while the team covered his class. Fortunately, the sausage rolls still got made.
"We are so pleased to have received a five-star rating. It is recognition of the continued hard work staff and students put in every day and the great job they do running the Enterprise Café. Well done everyone."
