Every year our Horticulture Tutor, Mark, and students work on a project to enter Doncaster in Bloom. This year has been no different.
Mark and Some of our students have worked tirelessly to make the gardens and pond area competition ready.
This year they have entered some different categories; this was in support of their work experience partner, The Doncaster Golf Club, who not only buys their plants, but also employs one of our previous students who completed his work experience with them.
Here are the 2019 categories that they have entered for their dual commitment to this great partnership.
- Best Premises Tourism
- Best Premises Business
- Most Unusual Container
- Best Wildlife/Sustainable Garden
- Best School/College Garden
- Best Garden Display
The students that worked on this project are on a Level 1 or 2 City & Guilds Horticulture course, or an in house certificate for enrichment.
Before the students could begin creating these beautiful containers and gardens, they had to pick out the seeds from the seed catalogue and help them grow. To do this they;
- Sow the seeds,
- Prick them out and pot them,
- Water and care for them.
Once ready, plants are then used within the grounds of both places to create the wonderful areas you on this page.
Judging takes place in July with the results being given at an awards evening at the Mansion House in October. Wish us Luck!
