Pupils and students at Doncaster Deaf Trust run Doncaster School for the Deaf and Communication Specialist College Doncaster are set to get an IT boost thanks to lottery funding.

The £10,000 grant from the Lottery Awards for All, Covid 19 Emergency Fund, will be used by the Trust to invest in IT equipment to help those pupils and students who are still learning from home.

Alexis Johnson, executive principal at Doncaster Deaf Trust said: “We know how important home learning has been to our pupils and students over the last few months and this grant will mean that we can invest in the most up to date equipment to make it even easier for our young people to learn from home.

“The IT equipment will be brought into school and college when all pupils and students can return, meaning that it is a real investment in the future learning for cohort.

“We are extremely grateful to the lottery for this money and we know that it will make a huge difference to our learners and their families as we continue to navigate this difficult period of time in our history.

“Every child and young person should have access to education and this grant will help in the delivery of our specialist provision to children and young people from across the country.”

The IT equipment will benefit pupils from the school, students from the college and those living in the Trust’s Children’s Home - Dickson House.
