Doncaster College for the Deaf is set to open its doors to professionals, parents and carers and prospective students next month (February 8).

The special open day is designed to give people a peek behind the doors at the nationally recognised specialist education facility and give them a hands-on insight into what college life is all about.

Bobbie Roberts, Chair of Trustees said: “We are hoping to attract potential learners, their parents or carers, to see first hand the high quality, innovative foundation and personal learning programmes we provide for learners who are deaf or hearing-impaired and to those with communication difficulties, autistic conditions across the spectrum or with learning disabilities and difficulties.”

The Open Day, which will take place on Wednesday February 8, will give deaf or hearing-impaired people and those with communication difficulties who are considering further education the chance to see the excellent facilities and initiatives Doncaster provide.

Guests will be shown around the college and treated to a close look at the various courses on offer in groups led by current students acting as tour guides and refreshments will be available.

The college offers courses in Media and Office Technologies, Construction, Sport, Recreation and Leisure Studies, Life Skills/Vocational Access, Health Education and Social Studies, Motor Vehicle Engineering, Catering and Hospitality, Hair and Beauty and Design and Technology on a purpose-built campus.
